Abstract

Currently ship scheduling in Holcim Indonesia has been done manually using spreadsheet based on the planner knowledge and experience. This makes the planning time become long and exhausting. Besides that, the costs incurred is not evaluated well, thus the distribution costs become high. Along with the business growth, the number of ships, supply port, and demand port will increase more and more. It will be impossible to be handled optimally by manual calculation and experience only.

The purpose of this research is to make an Decision Support System which integrating  between inventory management and ship scheduling system. The inventory and forecast data at each warehouse is updated daily, then the planner can arrange the planning base on this inventory and forecast data. The result of using this DSS on August is the time spent on schedule planning has been cut significantly, up to 75 minutes, decrease time spent to adjust the planning about 50 minutes/adjustment. Thus freeing the planner for other creative tasks. Deduct bunker request about 82 KL HSD and savings IDR 103.5 million by allocate bunker at Java area instead of Riau area which is requested by ship Master.
